175 companies lose their market prices as NEPSE declines 15.54 points

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday plunged 15.54 points to close at 2,594.13 points.

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday plunged 15.54 points to close at 2,594.13 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,609.67 points and escalated to the day’s high at 2,615.55 points in the first half an hour. The index however headed downhill and reached as low as 2,581.69 points in the last seven minutes of trading. The market recovered around 13 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also declined 2.56 points. Daily turnover surged to Rs 6.65 billion from Rs 3.99 billion on Sunday.


All the 13 groups had their market indices decline in the intraday trading. The Hotels and Tourism Index declined by the largest of 90.46 points.  


Regarding the individual companies, only 63 were gainers while 175 were registered as losers. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 452.55 million.


Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd lost the highest of 10 percent of their market values. Barahi Hydropower Public Limited was the largest gainer.
