KATHMANDU, Feb 2: At least 17 people were injured when a bus and a tipper collided head-on in Sunwal, Nawalparasi (West). 11 of the injured are currently being treated at local hospitals, according to police.
Police said the condition of one of the injured is critical, while six others have been discharged following the treatment.
Three killed in separate road accidents in Jhapa
The night bus (S.P.Pra 01-001 KHA 3480) en route to Bajura from Kathmandu and the tipper (LU 2 KHA 1696) coming from opposite direction collided at a place called Alkatredanda near the gas station in Sunwal at 9:45 on Thursday night.
DSP Ramesh Bohra, Information Officer at District Police Office, Nawalparasi (West), said, "Out of 35 people on board the bus, 17 people including the driver were injured. Six people have been discharged. One of the remaining 11 injured being treated in the hospital is in critical condition. It has been said that he will have to undergo an operation on his head.”
The injured are being treated at Devdaha Medical College Baluhi and Lumbini Regional Hospital Butwal.
Tipper driver Sunil Darji, 28, living in Sunwal-10, Gandakhal, has been kept in police custody.
