HLPM meet inconclusive on integration issue

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: A meeting of the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) ended inconclusively on Saturday morning as the leaders of the Unified CPN (Maoist) rejected PM Madhav Kumar Nepal’s request to reach to an agreement regarding the issue of the army integration.



The meeting was held on the request of PM Nepal at the residence of co-ordinator Girija Prasad Koirala in Maharajgunj.[break]



PM Nepal has sought the agreement on the issues halting the progress in the Special Committee on Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of Maoist combatants.



It was learnt that Maoist leaders were not willing to go into the issues without reaching a political agreement.



After Maoist leaders and PM Nepal left the meeting, Nepali Congress president Koirala and CPN-UML Jhala Nath Khanal held a meeting. “We talked about the current issues,” Khanal said. “We agreed that we should also address the issues of the Maoists.”
