President Shrestha has been conferred with the honorary PhD degree by the New Delhi-based Foreign Policy Research Institute of India for playing a special role in promoting the diplomatic relations between Nepal and India as well as in the economic activities by remaining in the leadership position in the business sector for a long time.
Shrestha is the first Nepali to be honored by the Foreign Policy Research Institute, a famous Indian research institute. Shrestha is also the former Assistant Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, chairman of the Foreign Policy Research Institute of India and legislator Prof Dr Prasanna Kumar Patasini said the Institute has the policy of honoring a distinguished person from UN member countries fulfilling important responsibility in peace building, economic promotion and diplomatic sector with the honorary PhD.
