KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Police have arrested a man along with equipment allegedly used in an illegal international call bypass (VOIP) operation in Kathmandu.
Acting on a tip-off, a team deployed by the bureau, with technical support and coordination from Nepal Telecom and Ncell Pvt Ltd, raided Costco Information Technology Pvt Ltd, operated by Salina Rai, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-30, Gyaneshwor. The operation was found to be illegally bypassing international incoming calls using internet-based systems.
The suspect, Rajan Rajbanshi (30), a resident of Birtamod Municipality–2, Jhapa, currently living in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-4, Dhumbarahi, was arrested on January 2 for violating the Telecommunications Act, 2053 BS. Further investigation is underway.

Police said further investigation is ongoing under the Telecommunications Act, 2053 BS.
