SURKHET, Sept 19: District Police Office, Surkhet has arrested four people with the skin of a red panda from Mansarovar Hotel in Birendranagar around 8.30 P.M. on Saturday.
According to Inspector Kanak Shahi, the arrested have been identified as Man Bahadur Budha, 28, of Rashkot Municipality-8, Kalikot, Bishnu Rawal, 33, of Thantikandh Rural Municipality-6, Dailekh, Purna Bahadur Basnet, 21, and Narendra Thapa, 25 of Narayan Municipality-10.
The police raided the hotel on the basis of information that a red panda skin was being brought from Dailekh. According to the police, the arrested people killed the red panda and brought its skin from Dailekh. “During the initial statement, it was revealed that they had a plan to sell the skin of the red panda for Rs 400,000.” Shahi said. “All four arrested were the sellers. We are searching for the buyers.”
Similarly, a special team of the Karnali Province Police Office and a team of the District Police Office have jointly arrested two people from Neware in Birendranagar-12 with the musk of a musk deer on Saturday. Police have arrested the two on the basis of a special tip off they received from locals.
According to the police, the arrested have been identified as Ran Bahadur Bohora, 60, of Chandannath Municipality-2, Jumla and Sarjan Bahadur Rawat, 23, of Mahabu Rural Municipality-6, Dailekh.
