KATHMANDU, Mar 30: The National Center Bureau (NCB) of Interpol arrested Karna Bahadur Shahi for his alleged theft of INR 2.7 million and gold from Thane of Mumbai, India.
According to the district’s Superintendent of Police, Uma Prasad Chaturbedi, Shahi was arrested through the information of NCB Interpol on Tuesday from Surkhet. “He is being held at District Police Office, Surkhet, SP Chaturbedi said adding that they were investigating further in the case.
NCB had acted on a statement issued by the Indian Crime Division urging assistance to track Shahi for his alleged involvement to steal INR. 2.7 million and jewelry. In its statement, NCB India had informed its Nepali counterpart that Shahi was allegedly involved in the stealing.
“There are other Nepali people involved as well. We have intensified our search operation,” a police source said.
