Two Nepali women win international prize

RATNANAGAR Oct 5: Two women of Nepal have been honoured with 'Prize for women's creativity in rural life'. The prize carrying a purse of 1,000 USD is presented by the Women's World Summit Foundation (WWSF) based in the Switzerland. 

Tulasi Gyawali of Bharatpur, Chitwan, who has been successfully growing vegetables in her rooftop after self-managing the waste produced by her household and Kamaiya liberation campaigner Nirmala Devi Tharu Chaudhary of western Nepal were honoured with the prize. 

The prize will be presented at a function to be held in Kathmandu on coming October 15, according to Prof. Dr Dharma Raj Dangol of the Natural Science Museum. Dangol had filed the nominations on behalf of Gyawali and Chaudhary. 

Founded in 1994, the prize has so far been awarded to 422 women of 130 countries. RSS
