KATHMANDU, Sept 1: Singer Amrit Gurung was deeply moved during the final song, “Rato Rachandra Surya,” as he saw the national flags waving among thousands of spectators. As the music played, he raised both hands and requested, “Let us unite as Nepali-speaking people across the world.” The packed "Terminal 5" venue erupted with enthusiastic support from the audience in response to his call.

With Gurung’s appeal, the fifth concert in the US tour was held with grandeur in New York. This city, considered the center of the world, is also where the Nepali folk rock band Nepathya has performed the most in the U.S. This time, an enthusiastic group of Nepali people in traditional attire welcomed them at LaGuardia Airport, bringing a traditional Panchebaja ensemble to accompany the band into the city.

The program featured both new and timeless hit songs by Nepathya, and the audience responded enthusiastically to the social and cultural comments made by lead singer Amrit Gurung between songs. He continued this interactive dialogue throughout the performance, sharing that some songs were created during his trekking journeys through Nepal’s rugged terrain, while others were collected from those regions.

When “Yo Jindagani” was performed, the audience appeared emotional, but the mood lifted dramatically with the song “Gaun–Gaunbata Utha,” reaching a climax with performances of hits like “Resham,” “Taalko Pani,” and “Rato Rachandra Surya.”

Following the successful completion of the previous five concerts, Nepathya has now arrived in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area for their sixth performance. The band will perform at “The Hall at Live!” in Maryland on September 1, with doors opening at 6:30 PM and the concert starting at 8:00 PM.

After the Maryland event, the tour will conclude with the seventh concert in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, marking the end of the band’s one-and-a-half-month-long tour of America for this year.
