Three held on charge of slaughtering cow

KANCHANPUR, Sept 24: Police arrested three persons for allegedly butchering national animal cow for flesh from Punarbas Municipality-15 in Kanchanpur on Saturday. 

The suspects have been identified as local residents Sanu Maya Tamang, Kanchhi Maya Tamang and Kale Tamang. A team from Phatiya Police beat arrested the suspects red-handed while butchering a cow for meat, said Inspector Bharat Chaudhary. 

The arrestees were handed over to the Area Police Office at Tribhuvanbasti for further investigation, he said, adding that a case would be filed against the arrestees. Nepal's law specifies cow slaughtering as a crime and slaps 12 years of imprisonment if one is involved in slaughtering cow, Nepal's national animal. RSS
