Soya Rice Recipe: A quick, nutritious and healthy dish

It is prepared using soya nuggets, rice, onion, peas, tomato, bay leaves, hung curd and ghee. You can add any veggies as per your choice. Soya nuggets are known for their high protein content and also contain essential minerals. Hung curd is a great source of probiotic and adds a great flavor to the dish.

 If you have leftover rice, it can be used to prepare this rice. It adds nutrition to the plain rice recipe. This is easy- to- make recipe which can be prepared in very less time. It is enjoyed by people of all age groups. Garnish the rice with coriander leaves and serve with green chutney (pickle). Ingredients required to make this dish are:

1 cup soya nuggets, 2 medium chopped onions, 1/4 cup peas, 1 leaf bay leaf, Salt as required, 4 green chilli, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 handful chopped coriander leaves, 2 tablespoon hung curd, 2 cup basmati rice, 1 medium tomato, 2 clove, 1 cinnamon stick, 1/4 teaspoon powdered turmeric, 3 cup water, 3 tablespoon ghee and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.


Recipe to make Soya Rice 

Step 1

To prepare this delicious dish, rinse the basmati rice and soak them in water for 10 minutes.

Step 2

In another bowl, soak the soya chunks in hot water for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, chop the onion, tomato and green chilies.

Step 3

Next, in a pan heat some ghee and add the cumin seeds and cloves to it. Then, add the onions, tomatoes, green chilies, cinnamon stick, and bay leaves. Add the peas to the pan. Cook them for a few minutes.

Step 4

Drain the water from the soya chunks and add them to the pan and saute them for a while. Then, add the hung curd.

Step 5

Next, add the basmati rice and some turmeric powder.

Step 6

Now pour in the water and salt as per your taste. Drizzle few drops of lemon juice on the top. Cover the pan and let the rice cook for 10 minutes.

Step 7

Once done, turn off the flame. Transfer the rice to a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with pickles.
