Save Ganga Maya' activists arrested

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: Police today took into custody at least 11 human rights activists who have launched a 'Save Ganga Maya Campaign' in support of Ganga Maya Adhikari, who is on a hunger strike for the past six years demanding the arrest of the culprits of her son killed during the Maoist decade-long insurgency.

The protesting activists including Charan Prasain, Indra Aryal, Krishna Aryal and Bhojraj Chapagain as they demonstrated in front of the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar.

However, the arrestees accused police of using force in their 'peaceful' protest.

Although Ganga Maya alongside her husband Nanda Prasad started their hunger strike for the same cause, Nanda Prasad already lost his life to his struggle to get justice. Ganga Maya is currently on a fast-unto-death at Bir Hospital, calling upon the new government to give justice to her late son. RSS
