Know MoreJANAKPURDHAM, June 7: Satish Singh, a member of the Madhesh Province Assembly from the Janamat Party, has taken the oath of office and secrecy after being appointed the chief minister (CM) of the province. Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari administered the oath to Singh on Friday.
Singh's appointment was made in accordance with Article 168 of the Constitution. He submitted his claim to the CM position with the support of provincial lawmakers from the CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist Party), Nagarik Unmukti Party, and Nepal Sanghiya Samajwadi Party.
This development follows the ousting of Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, who lost a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly on Wednesday. The province chief had set a deadline of Friday for submitting a majority-backed claim for the formation of a new government.
