Safi to get Insec human rights award

KATHMANDU, July 28: Informal Sector Service Center (Insec) has announced that this year's 'Prakash Human Rights Award' will go to Maulana Abdul Jabbar Safi of Nepalgunj.
The award recommendation committee, coordinated by general secretary of Insec Ramchandra Poudel, has recommended Saphi for his role on promoting human rights and social justice for the last four decades.

The committee had finalized Safi's name for the award after comparing the recommendations from its five regional offices. Issuing a statement on Thursday, the chairman of INSEC Subodh Raj Pyakurel informed that the award will be handed over to Saphi on July 31 in Nepalgunj. "Safi will be awarded with a case prize of Rs 50,000," the statement reads. The award was established in 2051.
