PM Dahal’s Urgent Plea: Save the Himalayas, Save Humanity

KATHMANDU, May 29: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has urged everyone to make the Himalayas pollution-free and actively participate in the conservation of the Himalayan region. He emphasized the need for cooperation and coordination among all sectors and stakeholders to protect the Himalayas.

On the occasion of the 71st Everest Day, it was revealed that climate change has accelerated the rate of global warming, affecting Himalayan regions like Mt Everest.

"Cooperation and coordination are necessary to make the Himalayas pollution-free. For this, the Nepali government has adopted a policy of engaging in dialogue at national and international forums with the slogan 'Save the Himalayas, Save Humanity,'" PM Dahal said. "I believe in the strong support of all Nepalis to the government's priority initiative."

He said that the challenge brought by the environmental crisis, climate change, and temperature rise that has appeared globally recently is serious. "Primarily, the rising temperatures pose a serious risk of glacier melting, increasing the danger of glacial lake outburst floods, and the growing air pollution is negatively impacting the lives, civilization, development, lifestyle, and health of the people living in the lower foothills of the Himalayas," he said.
