Know MoreKATHMANDU, Sept 6: The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has directed all internet service providers (ISPs) to lift the ban on TikTok. Following the government’s decision to lift the ban on TikTok on August 22 with certain conditions, the NTA issued a directive on Friday to all ISPs to allow the use of TikTok.
“Until further notice, the ban on TikTok should be lifted using the authority granted under Section 15 of the Telecommunications Act, 2053. A directive has been issued by the authority to all relevant internet service providers and mobile service providers,” the directive reads.
TikTok has already welcomed the government’s decision to lift the ban on the app.
The then government, led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, had decided to ban TikTok, citing its adverse effects on social harmony, on November 13, 2023.
