NEPSE jumps 75.33 points; daily turnover increases to Rs 14.11 billion

KATHMANDU, July 23: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday increased by a whopping 75.33 points to close at 2,563.42 points.

The market that opened at 2,488.09 points initially plunged to the day low at 2,470.47 points in the first 15 minutes. The index then went to an upward graph throughout the trading hours, taking the index to 3.02 percent higher before the market closed for the day.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies increased an impressive 10.40 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 14.11 billion from Rs 13.91 billion on Monday.  

All the 13 groups had their market value inclined. Non-life insurance added the highest of 525.07 points. Other six groups including life insurance, manufacturing and processing, hotels and tourism, trading, development bank and hydropower also gained three-digit points.

Among individual companies, 220 were recorded as gainers whereas only 20 were the losers.

Shivam Cements Ltd had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 246.92 million. Five companies including Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited, Samriddhi Finance Company Limited, Mandu Hydropower Limited, Hathway Investment Nepal Limited and Nepal Warehousing Company Limited gained the highest of 10 percent of their market values. Ganapati Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited had its market price declined by the highest of 5.83 percent.
