Nepal Lekhapadhi Association objects to various land revenue and land management offices’ actions

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The Professional Legal Lekhapadhi Association of Nepal has raised concerns over the actions of some land reform, land revenue, and survey offices, accusing them of misinterpreting the Land Use Act and halting fragmentation and plotting of land, which has led to difficulties for service-seekers.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the Association called on these offices to correct their actions, follow the law, and avoid creating confusion and spreading misinformation among the public.

The Association highlighted that the Land Use Act, 2076, and the Land Use Regulation, 2079 (First Amendment, 2080) were introduced to regulate land use, control fragmentation, and manage land consolidation. According to the rules, land fragmentation is allowed, even if the land is not classified or designated within the specified period by the local Land Use Council.

The Association has also requested the Government of Nepal, the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation to ensure that services are provided smoothly and that public work is not hindered.

Furthermore, the Association warned that if their suggestions are ignored and the current actions continue, they will peacefully resist and retaliate against the government offices’ actions across the country.
