KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Jivan Shahi, has pressed for putting in place a sustainable mechanism to ensure air safety in the country. 

At a program organized by the Ministry to interact on the proposed draft of the Nepal Civil Aviation Act-2073 here Sunday, Minister Shahi shared that the a new act was in the offing that would ensure air safety and operate the civil aviation sector of Nepal on par with the international sector. 

The Minister also spoke for the need to give the proposed draft a final touch by removing the shortcomings in it.

Stating that none of the recommendations furnished by the air-crash investigation committees were implemented yet, he also underscored devising a separate sustainable mechanism towards this end. 

Minister Shahi was of the confidence that such a sustainable mechanism would not only study the prospects of air incidents in future besides conducting case-wise studies. 

Similarly, Deputy- Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Rajan Pokharel shared that the new aviation Act complies with the international rules, regulations and laws formulated by the International Civil Aviation Organization. ac

Furthermore, he mentioned that the Non-Military Aviation Act-2015 and Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Act-2053 would be integrated to formulate a new Act, which, according to him, would function both as a service provider and regulator to the civil aviation sector. RSS
