Loan shark victims decide not to stage protest due to internal discussion

KATHMANDU, Feb 24: Loan shark victims, who have gathered in Kathmandu to seek justice, decided not to organize a protest on Saturday. Nirga Nabin, the spokesperson of Kisan-Majdur Sangharsha Samiti against Loan Sharking and Fraud, mentioned that they did not schedule any demonstration for Saturday due to an ongoing internal discussion.

"We are conducting internal discussions. We won't be taking to the streets," he stated. "However, those wishing to show solidarity are welcome to join us at our current location." The victims have been residing in Bhrikutimandap since Friday.

Since January 30, Usury victims from Gaddachauki of Kanchanpur in Far Western Nepal and Kakarbhitta of Jhapa in eastern Nepal’s Mechi Province have been traveling to the federal capital on foot since January 30. They reached Thankot on Wednesday. On Thursday, the police halted the victims at Bhrikutimandap from advancing their march towards Singha Durbar.
