Lab technician electrocuted in Kapilvastu

KATHMANDU, March 25: A lab technician lost his life due to electrocution in Kapilvastu district.

Devraj Devkota, 33, of Tulsipur sub-metropolitan city-10 of Dang who was employed at Narayani Eye Hospital located in Bahadurganj, Krishnanagar Municipality-9, Kapilvastu, succumbed to electrocution on Sunday.

The unfortunate event took place around 6:30 PM when Devkota climbed a tree to pick coconuts and was electrocuted. Surendra Khadka, a member of the hospital’s management committee, confirmed the details of the incident.

Kishor Bhandari, a colleague from the hospital, reported that Devkota was rescued and immediately taken to Bhairahawa Medical College after falling from the tree due to the electrocution.

Bhandari further stated that Devkota's body is currently kept at Bhim Hospital in Bhairahawa awaiting a post-mortem examination. Following the examination by doctors, arrangements will be made to transport Devkota’s body to his home in Tulsipur, Dang.

Devkota had been serving as a Lab Technician at Chand (Kalebabu) Narayani Eye Hospital in Bahadurganj. He was part of the Eye Health Program Rapti and Bahadurganj, under Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh.
