KOICA volunteers support solar project in Butwal

KATHMANDU, Sept 20: Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) volunteers have completed the project 'Uninterruptible Computer Lab and Optical Communication Network' at Korea Nepal Institute of Technology (KNIT) in Butwal.

KOICA had donated a total of $38,790 USD for this project. KNIT is a successful project of KOICA, which was completed and handed over to the government of Nepal in the year 2008.
The inauguration ceremony was held at KNIT, Butwal on Tuesday. The project aims at helping students of the institute to learn without any obstruction resulting from power outage. 

The volunteer program, “World Friends Korea,” is one of KOICA's programs aimed at contributing toward grass root level for socio-economic development in partner countries. 

KOICA dispatches Korean national volunteers to partner countries as per their need for expertise, knowledge and experience. Each volunteer serves in Nepal for two years in various fields such as education, health, agriculture, ICT, etc. Currently, as many as four advisors and 33 KOICA volunteers are working in various sectors in accordance with an agreement between the governments of Nepal and Korea.
