KMC rescues four child laborers from inside Singha Durbar

KATHMANDU, June 13: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has rescued four child laborers working inside Singha Durbar.

On Wednesday, two boys and two girls employed in various canteens inside Singha Durbar were rescued by the KMC.

According to Dhiraj Joshi, a member of the Mayor's Secretariat, three of the four children do not have citizenship, and the citizenship of one child indicates that the child is less than 16 years old.

Joshi mentioned that although there were complaints about the presence of Indian children, none were found during the monitoring. He added that the rescued children had been working all day and were unable to attend school.

Joshi said, "It is concerning how children without citizenship were employed in Singha Durbar, the largest administrative center of the country." This situation raises several security questions.

The KMC has been running a campaign against child labor for a few days, during which the four children inside Singha Durbar were rescued.

As part of this campaign, the KMC is working in coordination with government agencies to eradicate child labor.
