Khimti-Dhalkebar transmission line disrupted, exports to India reduced

Khimti-Dhalkebar transmission line disrupted, exports to India reduced

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The Khimti-Dhalkebar 220 KV transmission line has been disrupted since 6:30 PM on Monday due to incessant heavy rainfall.

A circuit wire from the double circuit transmission line fell to the ground, and the ongoing rainfall has prevented repair work from taking place, thus affecting electricity export.

Spokesperson for the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Chandan Kumar Ghosh stated that the supply of 300 MW of power through the Khimti-Dhalkebar transmission line has been disrupted. According to him, there is a problem regarding the electricity supplied to different places. The NEA has been exporting up to 690 MW of electricity to India.

He further said that the inability to repair the transmission line due to incessant rain has compounded the problem, leading to a significant reduction in the electricity being exported to India.
