Kamal, Samrakshak to vie in final

KATHMANDU, Sept 27: Kamal Bhandari and Samrakshak Bhusan Bajracharya on Tuesday advanced to the boys' singles final of the First National Open Lawn Tennis tournament being held at the Satdobato tennis court.

Kamal saw off Nabin Pun in straight sets of 6-1, 6-2 and Samrakshak ousted Santosh Khatri 6-0, 6-7 during the semifinals.

Mayanka Rana and Ira Rawat will vie for the girls' singles title.

Meanwhile, Sri Ram Magar and Kamal Bhandari's pair won the boys' doubles final beating the pair of Samrakshan Bhushan Bajracharya and Mahesh Shrestha 6-3, 7-5.

Earlier on Monday, Rana siblings Mayanka and Mahika were crowned the girls' doubles champion.

The boys' and girls' singles final will be played on Wednesday.

The winner of all four categories will be rewarded with purse of Rs 20,000.

Similarly, the runner-up and second runner-up will get richer by Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
