Know MoreKATHMANDU, July 2: Roads in the Kaligandaki Corridor have been blocked by landslides triggered by incessant rain. The corridor has been blocked by landslides on the road at Majbour, Jaimini Municipality-5, Baglung. The vehicles coming to the headquarters of Baglung market from Chishti, Jaidi, Arjeva, Binamare and other places of Jaimini as well as Indian tourists en route to Muktinath have been stranded.
Harihar Sharma, deputy mayor of Jaimini Municipality, said that despite efforts of national pride projects to open the road, the ongoing heavy rainfall has obstructed operations. The road cannot be opened until the rain stops, he added.
Sharma said, “The road has not been opened due to the incessant rain, and even now landslides are continuously falling in the road."
Similarly, the road at Dablyang, Baglung Municipality-10 along the corridor, has been blocked. Raju Khadka, deputy mayor of Baglung Municipality, said that the ongoing rainfall has prevented the road from reopening. The blocked road has caused disruption to transportation connecting southern Baglung.
