JSP election for party posts other than chairman underway

JANAKPUR DHAM, June 13: The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal is holding an election today to select new leadership of the party. According to the central election committee, voting is underway from 12 PM and will continue until 3 PM for various party positions.

Upendra Yadav has been elected unopposed to the post of chairman. The election to fill 201 remaining posts in the new working committee is taking place this afternoon.

Nominations were registered on Wednesday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM during JSP Nepal’s first convention, held from Monday at the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Mithila Culture Center in Janakpur Dham.

Three candidates have been nominated for the post of co-chairman: Lalbabu Raut, former Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Rakam Chemjong, and Raj Kishor Yadav of the federal parliament.

A total of 23 individuals- 17 men and 6 women - have nominated themselves for the five vice chairman positions. The candidates are Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav, Harinayan Yadav, Angdeng Sherpa, Bidyut Bajracharya, Arjun Thapa, Gobinda Chaudhary, Shiva Lal Thapa Magar, Saroj Kumar Yadav, Mahomad Khalid, Prakash Adhikari, Bachha Raut Ahir, Surendra Prasad Kurmi, Ram Bachhan Ahir Yadav, Man Dhoj Balon, Amaresh Narayan Jha, Rajan KC, Suman Kumar Chaudhary, Rekha Yadav, Lila Devi Sitaula, Shobha Devi, Suni Lama, Sabita Yadav, and Radha Thapa.

Six individuals have been nominated for the two General Secretary positions: Bom Bahadur Darlami Magar, Raj Kumar Sharma, Bijaya Kumar, Deepak Karki, Manish Kumar Suman, and Ashok Kumar Yadav.

For the Joint General Secretary positions, the candidates are Dr Surendra Kumar Yadav, Rambabu Prasad Yadav, Ram Kishor Prasad Yadav, Raj Kumar Rai, Yogendra Rai Yadav, Sailendra Mandal, Dr. Jay Prakash Rai Yadav, Jaya Ram Yadav, Sita Kumari Yadav, Binita Kumari Yadav, and Nirmala Yadav.

Candidates for the post of Treasurer include Renu Kumari Yadav, Bal Ram Mahat, and Sanjay Kumar Yadav. A total of 34 individuals have registered their candidacies for the post of Secretary.

A large number of candidacies have been submitted through various clusters, including open nominations. A total of 100 supervisors and 349 representatives have been selected from across the country for the convention.
