Joint replacement service in Trauma Centre

KATHMANDU, Sept 1: The National Trauma Centre has started rendering joint replacement service under its orthopedic services.

\The Centre, first and the most modern orthopedic and trauma hospital in the country, has brought into the service since two months in view of the growing cases of injuries from road accidents and natural disasters in the country, said Chief of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery Division at the Centre, Prof Dr Krishna Giri.

Although the surgery of joint replacement is quite reasonable, the artificial joint is costly. "It costs anywhere from Rs 60,000 to Rs 300,000 to replace a joint," shared Dr Giri.

This service has been expanded to other health facilities at BPKHIS in Sunsari and at Chitwan Hospital, according to Dr Giri.
