Japan hands over Community Center for Disaster Prevention to Indrawati Rural Municipality

KATHMANDU, April 23: The Government of Japan has handed over a Community Center for Disaster Prevention to Indrawati Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchowk District. The handover ceremony, attended by Ambassador Yutaka Kikuta, was held on Wednesday.

Constructed under the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects by Japan Asian Association and Asian Friendship Society (JAFS), the new community center aims to enhance disaster prevention capabilities in the rural municipality. The project focuses on self and mutual help, establishing disaster prevention committees, activities, public broadcasting, warehouses, and conducting landslide prevention measures.

Ambassador Kikuta expressed hope that the new community center will serve as a hub for disaster prevention, improving not only disaster prevention capabilities but also contributing to regional revitalization.
