IPV vaccine administered to more than 100,000 children in Gandaki

KASKI, May 25: Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) against polio is going to be administered to 100,327 children in 11 districts of Gandaki province.

According to the Gandaki Ministry of Social Development and Health, the vaccination is going to be conducted May 26 to June 8 as part of the National Vaccination Program.

Secretary at the Ministry Binod Bindu Sharma shared that 3,453 vaccination centers and 6,906 health workers and health volunteers are being mobilized for the vaccination program.

The IPV vaccine was not available in the world market for more than two years and hence the campaign is going to be conducted to vaccinate the children who missed the vaccination.

According to Secretary Sharma, the age group of children has been determined by analyzing the age at which the IPV vaccine should be given according to the regular vaccination schedule and the current age that is exempted from this vaccination at that time. Accordingly, children born between Nepali month Baisakh 2073 BS to Asoj 2075 BS will be vaccinated.
