Know MoreKATHMANDU, June 24: Joint General Secretary and Member of Parliament (MP) of the main opposition Nepali Congress, Badri Pandey, has said that the government has increased collusion with BYD-affiliated company Cimex Inc Pvt Ltd that is facing an investigation for alleged tax evasion.
On Monday, in the zero hour of the meeting of the House of Representatives, MP Pandey claimed that for the same reason, as many as 2,900 units of electric vehicles were imported in Nepal in just one-month period from mid-May to mid-June.
According to him, such practices exploit the customers. Pandey said, "It is not difficult to assume that the import of electric vehicles has increased unnaturally due to the government’s notice on a tax hike on electric vehicles from the new fiscal year. Therefore, I demand a serious investigation into this anti-national and anti-consumer activity and strict actions against the culprits."
