HoR meeting adjourned after Maoist Center’s objection over the use of the term ‘violence’

KATHMANDU, Sept 11: The House of Representatives (HoR) has been adjourned until September 15 following an objection from the CPN (Maoist Center).

During Wednesday’s meeting, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire clarified that the term “violence” is not deemed unparliamentary and will not be removed from the parliamentary record.

The Maoist Center, however, demanded the removal of the term “violence” from the record after the Speaker’s clarification. Maoist Center Chief Whip Hit Raj Pandey expressed his objection while stating that the federal parliament secretariat should proceed according to the constitution and laws.

Maoist Center lawmakers protested after CPN-UML Lawmaker Yogesh Bhattarai used the term “violence” while referring to the Maoist insurgency period during the HoR session on August 28, which they said was against parliamentary norms.
