While celebrating Nepali brands in Brand Nepal 2021, it would be unfortunate, if it forgets about eco-friendly and natural products that one uses in our daily lifestyle. Organized by Radio Nagarik 96.5, Brand Nepal promotes Nepali brands and their products. On 18th December 2021, Brand Nepal Go Local is coming up with its third edition. Here is a list of herbal lifestyle products that are participating in Brand Nepal this year.

Naturo Earth

(Ankit Rateria, Founder)

Naturo Earth is a wellness brand with an aim to implement sustainable practices in the entire value chain of making environment-friendly health, beauty, and lifestyle products using all-natural ingredients. Their product range includes personal care products like hand-made soaps, essential oils, cold-pressed plant-based oils, body scrub, and many other skincare products to environmentally sustainable and physically revitalizing alternatives like salt lamps and soap nuts, hemp yoga mats, wild honey, and so on. In the Himalayas, organic is not just a term, it’s the way of living. Thus, each element is hand-picked and uniquely packaged to make a valuable wellness bucket for consumers who intend to live a fully aware and fulfilling life.

  • What inspired you to run your business?

I have always been close with nature and have believed in the harmony that we need to have between our lives and our environment. I am a firm believer that we should be living in balance with nature that includes introducing sustainability in the products that we use in our daily lives. When i looked at all the harmful and chemical contents that are the main ingredients in our daily use products I always thought that there are far better alternatives available. The potential of our country in the field of natural and organic products is limitless. However, there were few brands that we're working with the same philosophy in the market. This led me to start Naturo Earth. I believe our brand will create a niche for itself in the natural and organic segment and we want to create a Nepali brand with global appeal.

  • What are the key things that help you to be an entrepreneur?

The main drive for me to be an entrepreneur is to be able to create value for all the stakeholders concerned. I am also a believer in creating a positive change in the market through creating businesses that have a long-term impact both environmentally and economically.

  • What can one expect, while at your stall in Brand Nepal?

We will have a curated collection of our products in the event with exciting offers and discounts for our shoppers. We will showcase our complete range of products including both wellness and beauty categories. We will provide our prospective customers with complete knowledge of the products so that they can make an informed choice as to why our products will be a great fit for their requirements in personal care, home, and wellness.

  • What is your expectation from this year’s Brand Nepal event?

As we are still going through these unprecedented times because of the pandemic, it has been challenging to connect with our consumers offline and Brand Nepal’s event is a very welcome move that will help us to experience and connect with our buyers and learn more about how we can improve on consumer experience and create a healthy, sustainable wellness lifestyle. It will also be a great opportunity to showcase products and reach a wider audience for our brand.

Infusion: Essence of the Himalayas

(Aditi Sanghai, Founder and Director)

They are also in the process of establishing essential oil processing units in different zones of Nepal in order to get varied products.

  • Why did you choose this business?

Ever since I was a child I was mesmerized by the beauty of Nepal and all that it has to offer and our beautiful country is an abode to innumerable natural plants packed with high benefits for the humans and Nepal has been so bountiful and abundant with nourishing us with the best and it’s time I give back to our country to Hamro Nepal.

  • What inspired you to run your business?

I traveled to the Western region of Nepal in the year 2012 and realized the great potential our country has and in Nepal, it’s possible to grow almost anything and almost everything. These mountains and valleys have been really generous with their products and have given us so much and a lot of times we take things for granted. So I felt why not utilize this to its best and let the world know how enriched our country is. Hence Infusion!

  • What are your challenges in your business and how did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge that we face in our business is high-quality organic packaging and labeling. Nepal is a landlocked country and is hugely dependent on the neighboring countries for a lot of materials and to sustain locally with the packaging options available the product costs get too high. We have tried to make our brand as eco-friendly, sustainable, and as local as possible, we believe in minimal wastage and minimal usage of plastic. We also thrive on local artisans and village communities and local vendors for our materials and we try to give our fellow citizens as much work as possible with the aim of uplifting the people of Nepal instead of procuring everything from outside

  • What can one expect, while at your stall in Brand Nepal?

At the Infusion Stall get ready to indulge in Essence of Himalayas. We will have caffeine-free natural flower and herbal teas, essential oils, handmade natural soaps, blended hair oils, natural skincare, aromatherapy candles, gift hampers. We have very carefully formulated our products that actually work for our users and you won’t be disappointed.

  • What is your expectation from this year’s Brand Nepal event?

Brand Nepal is a great platform and a wonderful initiative to promote Nepalese Brands and we feel privileged to be a part of this event. It’s absolutely amazing to see so many new brands getting together with fresh and novel ideas and we now have good inhouse brands to self-sustain instead of relying on imported products from other nations for our wants and needs be it food, clothing, cosmetics, etc. Brand Nepal has really gathered all of it beautifully to create more awareness – 100percent made in Nepal!

JUAS Store

(Bibek Neupane, Pranay Karki and Sijal Shakya. Directors at JUAS)

Juas Store is an online store in Nepal with the highest quality of authentic super foods and keto foods sourced locally as well as worldwide. Their products range from superfoods such as moringa, spirulina, bee pollen, shilajit, and apple cider vinegar to items commonly used in the kitchen such as peanut butter (with raw honey and Himalayan pink salt), ghee (only grass-fed ghee), raw honey and pancake/waffle mix (made from almond flour, coconut flour, hemp flour, and millet flour), most of which are low carb and keto diet-friendly.

  • Why did you choose to be in this business?

One of the most important aspects in anyone's life is their health, and one of the most important aspects of anyone's health is healthy natural food. We want to help change the eating habits of our fellow Nepali from unhealthy, junk, and highly processed food with unhealthy ingredients to natural healthy foods. It is simply a choice but a lot of people are not aware of how important a healthy diet can be, especially in the long run. We believe that healthy eating habits with natural foods, a healthy lifestyle, and proper exercise are the best medicine, contrary to artificial products, pills, and surgery (unless it is absolutely required). We believe healthy eating habits with natural foods, a healthy lifestyle, and proper exercise can help solve not all but a lot of health problems.

  • What are the key things that help you to be an entrepreneur?

Support from our family, friends, and our loyal customer base who constantly push us for more innovation and improvement: we wouldn't be here without them. We also believe that sticking by and believing in our ideas is important when there are bad days.

  • What can one expect, while at your stall in Brand Nepal?

You can expect all our products from our product line to be available at our stall in the Brand Nepal event on December 18 at Chhaya Center, Thamel. We hope to see you there! We will be there ourselves to provide first-class customer service and to answer any of your queries regarding the products, their benefits, and their uses as well.

  • What is your expectation from this year’s Brand Nepal event?

We are excited to be involved with Brand Nepal for the first time and to make this event a huge success. When you visit most stores in Nepal, a lot of products that are foreign-made are imported and a lot of Nepali brands that exist are overlooked and undermined. We hope to promote our brand and other Nepali brands in this event to promote the use of Nepali brands and products in the local market. We hope to increase the exposure of Nepali brands further via this year's Brand Nepal event so that more Nepali brands become household names.

Desi Gurb

(Chirag Modi, Co-Founder)

Desi Grub wants to promote superfoods that had been part of our traditional households (be it from High Himalayas or Plain Lands) for ages but are long lost now. Their products not only tantalize your taste buds, but they also boast tremendous medicinal properties that prevent and treat innumerable diseases through their natural properties, free from any additives or chemicals. By selling pure and unadulterated herbal products and their blends in the Nepali markets and across the globe, they want to provide a wholesome and healthy experience to their customers. Also, they aim to be a green company and almost all of their products are packaged in glass or paper packaging.

  • Why did you choose to be in this business?

Desi Grub was started by keeping in mind the hustle of the modern-day lifestyle. The so-called modern science has overshadowed the essence of life, i.e., nature. People seek to get nutriments from chemical/adulterated products which are ready to use and give instant but unsustainable results. Desi Grub works on formulating those essential nutrients from natural traditional herbs/spices/flowers/trees, etc. The products are formulated for ready to be used and give sustainable results. With the changing lifestyle and increasing pollution, the scope of natural organic health products seems to have great potential.

  • What inspired you to run your business?

The desire to showcase the potential of Nepali herbs and natural products to local and international markets inspired us to run our business. Also, to drive the result-oriented efforts than mere lip service.

  • What are the key things that help you to be an entrepreneur?

Inquisitiveness. To read, know, learn, discuss, and inbuilt power to do unconventional things which have the real potential of success.

  • What is your expectation from this year’s Brand Nepal event?

To get wider awareness about the brand in the society and showcase the potentials of Nepali products for their quality, packaging, and standardization.
