‘Govt conspiring to defer polls’

‘Govt conspiring to defer polls’

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: CPN-UML Secretary Bhim Acharaya on Wednesday claimed that the incumbent government is hatching a conspiracy of not holding timely polls neglecting the constitutional provision.

Speaking at an interaction at Reporters’ Club, leader Acharaya said, “The demand of holding local polls as per the existing structures is against the constitution. It is a poly for deferring polls. Timely polls are necessary to implement the constitution.”

On the occasion, he said that the Nepali Congress (NC) had objected to the UML’s proposal of holding local polls as per the existing structures some one year ago.

“Now demanding to hold poll as per the existing structures is a ploy to sabotage polls,” he claimed.

Acharaya accused the ruling parties of conspiring to push the country toward a constitutional vacuum by not holding timely polls.
