Govt forms committee to investigate weapons license granted to Durga Prasai

KATHMANDU, March 29: The government has initiated an investigation into the granting of a weapons license to Durga Prasai.

A Cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to establish a four-member committee, led by Home Ministry’s Joint Secretary Rajendra Dev Pandey.

The decision comes after two of Prasai’s bodyguards were apprehended with weapons on March 18 from the premises of the Supreme Court.

In response to this, Prasai asserted that he had obtained permission to carry the weapons from the District Administration Office, Jhapa.

The committee has been tasked with completing its investigation within 15 days and submitting a comprehensive report on the matter.
