Govt expediting long term plan for energy production: DPM Rayamahji

KATHMANDU, July 8: Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, Top Bahadur Rayamahji, today said the government was expediting a long-term plan for energy production and to end the prevalent energy crisis.


Responding to the questions put forth by lawmakers under the budget allocation for Energy Ministry under Appropriation Bill 2073 here today, DPM Rayamahji said the government was producing energy and importing electricity to 'end the load shedding cent per cent' in the country within the next two years.


The Ministry has prioritized hydro power projects based on reservoir than flowing river, he said, adding that it was speeding up the bigger projects.


He further shared the Ministry was working with a goal to produce 10,000 megawatts of electricity in 10 years' time.


Forest and Soil Conservation Minister answers
Forest Minister, Agni Prasad Sapkota, said scientific management of forests will be run affectively while increasing the supply of wood.


He spoke of providing logs to the quake-stricken in concession and managing the wood imported from foreign countries.


The Minister said the government has prepared a master plan for management of Tarai's Chure Bhawar area. He said the Ministry was bent on conserving the forest area by clearing encroachments.


He said works for constructing a 'multipurpose model zoological park' in Bhaktapur in view of the population in the capital city was also underway. RSS
