Give education not dowry

POKHARA, Dec 11: Participants at a programme held here on Saturday insisted on giving education to daughters instead of dowry in order to end violence against women (VAW) in the society.

As part of the 16-day international campaign to eliminate violence against women, an interaction programme and a street drama were staged by women tourism entrepreneurs.

Programme coordinator Lucky Karki said the programmes were being held to find out the problems faced by women in tourism business and resolve it.

Nepal Tourism Board senior official, Shraddha Shrestha said the mother groups should not only take part in processions and cultural events rather seek role in decision making places. At the programme, Parbata Pandey, Indira Baral and Sangeeta Poudel spoke of women's rights. RSS
