CHANDRAUTA (Kapilvastu), Nov 5: An all – party meeting has decided to form five municipalities and six village councils in Kapilvastu district.

The District Technical Committee formed for recommending local body structure organized the meeting during which CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre) presented differing views on splitting the town, but eventually agreed on 11 bodies.

The Bahadurgunj, Bhagawanpur, Purushottam, Bhilmi and Ajigara VDCs have been included in Krishnanagar Municipality with Bahadurgunj as the downtown.

The Buddhapati and Bhrikuti, Mahuwa Manpur, Balaramwapur VDCs will be merged to form Buddhabhumi Municipality. Likewise, Dhankauli, Dohani and Dharamapaniya VDCs will be merged into the Kapilvastu Municipality.

With a complete reshuffle taking place, Shivagadhi, Khuruhuriya, Gugauli, Pathardehiya and Ganeshpur VDCs located at the far – western part of the district have been merged with the village council centre fixed at Bhatani Prem Nagar.

The parties have agreed to add more VDCs to the municipalities falling short of meeting the population criteria.

District Technical Committee coordinator and Local Development Officer, Chandra Kant Neupane said the recommendation for 11 bodies will be sent to the centre with everyone's consent. RSS
