Everyone knows who is being protected in the name of safeguarding Constitution: Home Minister Lamichhane

KATHMANDU, July 12: Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has said that the agreement between the two major parties in parliament at an entrepreneur’s house overnight cannot be considered as a national agreement.

Lamichhane said so during the discussion on the proposal for a vote of confidence by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Friday.

He said, "We will only know who is being protected in the name of safeguarding the constitution once the agreement is made public. However, my party and I cannot accept that there is an agreement to safeguard the constitution. There can be a consensus but there can never be a national consensus. How did the nation and the constitution suddenly become the causes for concern overnight? Is there a crisis in the country? Was there an attack from somewhere?"

He said that the fact of who is being protected in the name of safeguarding the constitution will be revealed after the NC-UML agreement is made public.
