Dengue cases decreasing: DPHO, Chitwan

RATNANAGAR, Nov 7: The dengue epidemic is found to have decreased of late in Chitwan district, the District Public Health Office (DPHO), Chitwan said.

According to the Vector Control Supervisor at the DPHO Ram Kumar KC, the rate of incidence of the disease has started going down now than in the months Saun and Bhadau. He said the infection rate has decreased since the second week of the month of Kartik.

"However, still dengue patients are being found. It is necessary for the locals to observe alertness against the disease," he added.

KC attributed the decrease in the incidences of dengue to the onset of autumn and the end of the rainy season as the Aedes aegypti, the mosquito which transmits the disease, breeds in the rainy season and especially in places where water has collected as in empty vessels. He said dengue infection is minimal in the winter.

The DPHO, Chitwan stated that so far 519 people have been affected by dengue in the district since Bhadau to this date in Kartik. It is said 70 -8- percent of the incidences have been reported from Ratnanagar Municipality. RSS
