Dahal-Oli meeting concludes with focus on govt functioning

KATHMANDU, July 1: The meeting between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar has concluded. According to the Prime Minister's Secretariat, the discussion centered on contemporary political issues.

While specific details of the conversation have not been disclosed, Ramesh Malla, PM Dahal’s personal secretary, mentioned that the discussion focused on the government's functioning. "There was a discussion on moving forward the work of the government in a dynamic and systematic manner and making the relationship between the coalition partners more harmonious," Malla said, "Overall, the discussion has been very good."

This meeting, the second between PM Dahal and UML Chairman Oli in as many days, is seen as significant amid ongoing discussions about a potential new power equation. Reports have surfaced about power-sharing talks between Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Additionally, PM Dahal and Oli held a discussion at Singha Durbar on Sunday where Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and home minister, was also present.

Malla dismissed rumors about changes in the power equation, stating, "That is just a rumor."
