CPN (United Socialist) collects names for Central Committee members

KATHMANDU, July 16: The Provincial Committee of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) has collected the names of Central Committee (CC) members. The party instructed the 'in-charges' of the respective provinces to recommend leaders' names based on their abilities and contributions and send them to the CC.

Leader Som Prasad Pandey said that the CC will evaluate leaders recommended from the provinces based on their work progress after evaluating inclusiveness, geography, region and balance. Accordingly, the CC will add 206 new central members from across the country.

The completion of the CC members will be finalized within mid-July to mid-August, and the same committee will select office-bearers. A working committee of 299 members and 21 office-bearers has been arranged for the party.

Recently, a convention unanimously elected 93 central members including Madhav Kumar Nepal as the chairman, senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal and General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal.  Currently, 206 central member positions remain vacant in the party.

However, the process of collecting names is currently underway in Karnali and Lumbini provinces.  Although preparations were initially made to complete the central committee by the end of June, technical issues have caused delays.

In the party constitution, it is guaranteed that at least one member from each district will be represented on the central committee. The statute specifies that 20 percent of individuals aged 25-45 years will be reserved during the election of the CC from all electoral constituencies.

Leader Pandey said that following the CC’s completion, some leaders will be entrusted with responsibilities of officials by implementing procedures and standards. The party currently holds 10 MPs in the House of Representatives and eight MPs in the National Assembly.
