Constitution Day to be observed with special functions

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: The government has planned to celebrate the Constitution Day (national day), 2081 in a special manner with a variety of events for three days.

Ashoj 3 in the Lunar calendar is observed as the Constitution Day every year to commemorate the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal on Ashoj 3, 2072 BS (i.e. September 20, 2015).

For observing the day in a grand manner, a main celebration committee has been formed under the leadership of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, with various sub-committees under it to oversee different aspects of the events to be held during the occasion.

The committee has decided to observe the day for three days from September 18 to 20 within the country as well as in diplomatic missions of Nepal in different countries. A special illumination programme will be organised on the main day, i.e. September 19. Other events planned include dialogue, interaction, radio play, public awareness, special publications and other creations focused on various aspects of the Constitution.

The state-owned Radio Nepal, Nepal Television, Rastriya Samachar Samiti and other media will organize special programmes and bring out special publications to mark the day that the country received its latest statute.

The main celebration committee will also host a special event at Tundikhel with the presence of members of the council of ministers, people's representatives, civil servants, and public and private organizations. Events have also been planned to be held in the provincial capitals, districts and local levels.
