Know MoreKATHMANDU, July 23: The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has set up a committee to look into accusations that former Minister and lawmaker Birendra Mahatto paid a middleman Rs 5,000 to verify his son's educational certificate.
Mahatto had previously admitted during a House of Representatives meeting that he had bribed officials in a subordinate office of the Education Ministry to obtain an equivalence certificate for his son.
A three-member committee, chaired by Spokesperson and Deputy Director General Basanta Prasad Koirala of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development, has been formed by the ministry.
The committee has been tasked with investigating the case and is required to submit its findings within seven days.
