Chyanti’s presence in international film festivals
Veemsen Lama’s directorial short movie ‘Chyanti’ has been shortlisted for various international film festivals. Such film festivals include; Crossroads Film Festival from US, UnDependence Film Festival from UK and Cluj Shorts International Short Film Festival from Romania. Earlier, his movie bagged ‘Best Asian Film’ at Link International Film Festival, UK in 2018.
Written by Sampada Malla, ‘Chyanti’ is a story during the midst of the Maoist Revolution. In the film, a guerrilla fighter returns home to celebrate Dashain. On his visit, he realizes that he must sell Chyanti, the family goat to feed his family and send his daughter to school.
Lama shared that it was a proud moment to screen ‘Chyanti’ on reputed film festivals around the world. He added, “Getting accepted to those film festivals makes the foreigners learn about our story and culture. It’s always a delightful time to get accepted and show our stories to international audience.”
Lama shared that he would upload ‘Chyanti’ in Youtube soon, probably around June-July.
