Call to reopen Parbat's mission hospital

PARBAT, Aug 24: Mission Hospital based in Huwas of southern Parbat, which was closed during the Maoist insurgency citing security reasons, is yet to reopen. The hospital established in 2050 BS targeting the rural people has remained closed for around the past two decades.

The Huwas folks have called on the authority concerned to reopen the hospital. None has so far shown concern to resume the hospital services, they said.

The closure of the 15-bed health facility that was constructed at the cost of Rs 10 million has forced the locals to visit Pokhara, Syangja, Butwal, Palpa and Bhairahwa in need of medical treatment. Huwas lacks an advanced medical facility. Two US and four Nepali doctors were posted in the hospital before its closure. It was constructed by an American organisation.

The hospital building may collapse at any time it is not repaired on time, hospital former registrar Ganga Neupane said. Some 50 -100 patients used to visit the hospital daily. Treatments for various sorts of disease were available in the hospital. RSS
