KATHMANDU, Aug 12: Hin Hung, an expert on Buddhist philosophy and director of Buddhist Studies Center at Hong Kong University, said only by embracing morality and good behaviors can fill themselves with the feeling of compassion. During a program organized by EVINS Nepal in Kathmandu, Hung said, the rise of greed, hatred, and foolishness is pushing the human race toward crisis.

According to Hin, peace cannot be achieved without wisdom, harmony and compassion. He opined that there is a dire need of education based on morality and values at present. "Meditation based on the scientific teachings of Lord Buddha can transform people's lives," he said.

Although Buddha was born in Nepal, many Nepalese have not benefited from his teachings, he said.

"Nepal has a long history of Buddhist religion, philosophy and meditation. Nepal can make big strides if it moves forward embracing them," he said.   

EVINS Chairman Arun Poudel said the organization is moving ahead adopting and promoting the concepts of mindfulness, life skills and compassion.
