Amrit, Aarhanta into quarterfinals

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: Amrit Thapa Magar and Aarhanta Keshar Singh made it to the quarterfinals of men's singles in the Dhana Laxmi Maharjan Memorial National Squash Championship on Tuesday.

Amrit edged past Rakesh Gupta 11-2, 11-4, 11-9 and Aarhanta beat Bir Bahadur Nepali 11-1, 11-5, 11-4.

Similarly, Amir Blon beat Dilip Narsingh Singh 11-5, 11-7, 12-14, 4-11, 11-5, Gyanu Chaudhary saw off Mitra Gurau 11-4, 11-3, 11-5, Rajendra Shakya beat Nishanta Agrawal 11-2, 11-6, 11-7 and Pravin Singh Kangsakar edged past Umid Shakya 12-10, 11-6, 11-5 for a place in the last eight.

Similarly, the women's singles saw, Krishna Thapa thump Laxmi Thapa 11-0, 11-2, 11-3, while Bhawana Sunwar eased past Swikriti Sunwar 11-2, 11-1, 11-2, Bipana Blon beat Shakshi Sunwar 11-5, 11-1, 11-3 while Sapana Blon beat Rupa Thapa 11-3, 11-2, 11-4.
