Flight services resume at Resunga Airport after nearly two months

GULMI, Aug 23: Regular flights from the Resunga Airport in Gulmi have resumed after nearly two months. Flights had been suspended since mid-June due to poor weather.

With a relative improvement in the weather, flights have resumed today with Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) operating its aircraft, according to Suman Thapa, the station chief of NAC at Resunga Airport. On this morning's flight, 12 passengers arrived at Resunga Airport from Kathmandu.

Resunga Airport's Chief Thapa mentioned that flights will now be scheduled once a week on Fridays, depending on the weather conditions. The airport, which has permission for three flights a week, has not had any flights since June 28 due to poor weather.

For Resunga Airport, flights from Kathmandu are scheduled at 6:30 AM, and flights to Kathmandu depart at 7:45 AM.

With the onset of the monsoon, staff at the airport report that a cloud cover during the morning flight time has been causing problems.

NACs’ Twin Otter aircraft has been operating flights to and from Resunga. Currently, the fare is set at Rs 7,080 from Gulmi to Kathmandu and Rs 7,280 from Kathmandu to Gulmi.

Resunga Airport is located in Simichaur, Ward-10 of Resunga Municipality. Commercial flights began operating in Resunga from the previous year.
