After finding the check, Tharu had informed his father Banduram. “I talked about my neighbor and decided to return the check to the bank,” said Banduram of his decision to return the check to the Surkhet branch of Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB).
“No matter how poor we are, we cannot enjoy other´s hard earned money,” he said. He also said that they were encouraged to cash the check by many people but refused to do so.

According to RBB Surkhet Brach Manager Yajyan Bahadur Basnet, although the check was of Nepalgunj RBB branch, it can be cashed from any RBB branch across the country.
“He could have cashed the check without any hindrance as the account has the necessary amount. Moreover, the bearer has not informed the bank about the check loss,” Basnet said. Recognizing Tharu´s honesty, RBB felicitated him wrapping with Nepali pashmina shawl.
